This page is where most of the functionality of FuneralPress is configured. Be sure to click “Save” at the bottom of the page to apply any changes you make.
Override Admin Email
If you need to set an alternative email to use for the administrator email then use this. Otherwise it defaults to your wordpress settings.
Obit Display type
There are 3 different styles to display your obits. Check out each style and choose the best one for your website.
- Thumbnail Mode – Displays person’s first and last name, thumbnail image, and date of services. Obits are arranged left-to-right and top-down in a table-like layout.
- Block Mode – Displays person’s first and last name, thumbnail image, date of services, and first part of obituary text. Organized top-down, only one obit per row.
- List Mode – Displays only person’s first and last name and date of services. Organized top-down, only one obit per row.

Main Image on the obit (in pixels).
Widget Image thumbnail
Width and height for the widgets (in pixels).
Shortcode Image thumbnail
Width and height for the shortcodes (in pixels).
Auto approve guestbook posts?
Checking this will bypass the guestbook approval system. All posts appear on the site without approval.
Allow Guests to post without registration
Check this to allow non registered users to post to the guestbook.
Show post count on guestbook tab?
This will show the post count on guestbook tab.
Check this to enable wordpress registration, this is a default wordpress setting. We just make it easier for you to change it here.
reCaptcha is a free way to help ensure that actual people are posting to your site by having them enter a randomly generated string of numbers and letters from a displayed image. Check this to enable captcha code for guest users. Put in your public and private key, you can get those here.
Check the box to display a search form on the top of the obits page.
Enable Search Fields
Checking the boxes next to each field adds the corresponding field to the search form on the obits page. This does not change the fields in the search widget.

How many Obituaries to display
How many obits should we display on each page? (Entered as a whole number)
Order Obits by
You may sort obits by burial date, death date, birth date, first name, last name, or when the obituary entry was created. Default is burial date.

The text to display if no guestbook posts exist.
Order Flowers link
There are many different flower affiliate programs available online. If you would like your users to order flowers put the full url for your flowers affiliate program. If you leave it blank the order flowers link will not show.
No pic image
Upload a default picture we should use incase the deceased does not have a picture.
Jquery UI Theme
You can change the theme here or remove the theme if you use your own custom theme. The default theme is smoothness.
